2021 FUNDRAISING INITIATIVES AND TOTALS

2021 FUNDRAISING

Together we raised $27,193 in 2021 for charities and community organizations.

The past year seemed like a continuation of 2020, with challenges that forced us to try new things. Like so many craft brewers and small businesses, we learned to adapt to constant change, closing and reopening our tap room, and finding ways to continue brewing beer while staying safe. It was yet another year of learning that helped us focus on what’s important to us as individuals and as a company.

As a brewery, we’ve always found ways to give back and support our local community, and pandemic limitations forced us to figure out how to continue to donate to these charities without live events and gatherings. We take our responsibility as a company to support the causes that are important to us very seriously, and understand how many marginalized communities and environmental causes are in need of support. In some cases this meant having some tough conversations, learning to listen, and acting in a meaningful way to raise money for the causes that we care about.

We’re taking a moment to look back at some of our fundraising efforts in 2021 and look forward to what we’re planning to do in 2022 and beyond. Thanks to everyone who helped us raise funds and support these important causes!

QUEEN OF CRAFT & WELLINGTON RAISE $8,357 FOR GUELPH-WELLINGTON WOMEN IN CRISIS

In order to continue with Queen of Craft programming in 2021, the crew put together a series of virtual events and brewed a Witbier with Flowers to start the year off right! In December, the appointed brew team created a Grisette with Pomegranate and had a release party- both raising money for the organization. As a brewery, we participated in the Brave Noise brewing intiative to raise awareness for sexual violence and harassment in the workplace. We are thrilled to be donating to the vital work Guelph Wellington Women in Crisis to protect women and children in our community from abusive situations. This year's tickets go on sale on IWD, March 8th for IN-PERSON events!

THE RED BEER PROJECT RAISES $850 FOR THE THUNDER WOMAN HEALING LODGE SOCIETY

Inspired to raise awareness about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in Canada, this project aims to celebrate the strength and power of Indigenous Women. We were honoured to be taking part in the Celebrating Sisters collaboration project to raise funds for The Thunder Woman Healing Lodge Society. Working with the Queen of Craft crew we created a tasty Saison with Sour Cherries with 50 cents from each can going to support this great organization; a community-driven initiative born out of concern and recognition for the urgent need to break the cycle of Indigenous women’s over-representation in Canada’s prisons. Indigenous-led, they provide trauma-informed, culturally appropriate services for First Nation (Status and Non-Status), Inuit, and Metis 2SLGBTQIA+ women exiting the justice system.

WELLY RAISES $1,046 to GUELPH PRIDE!

Our Pride 2021 fundraising resulted in a $1,046 donation to Guelph Pride from the sale of Sunshine Blonde Ale and the Pride Pints initiative. We look forward to working with the great folks of Guelph Pride again this year, and hope to be able to help out with in-person events. Keep your eyes peeled!

$4,213 TO SUPPORT GUELPH GENERAL HOSPITAL!

Thanks to your generous support, together we raised a total of $4,213 to support Guelph General Hospital's Together We Care Campaign, aimed at helping expand the strained Emergency Department, enhancing spaces for better mental health and addictions care, and replacing aging equipment. Over the entire month of May, we accepted donations at the checkout of our online store and donated $0.25 from every can of SPA sold from our brewery, both online and in-store.

SHINE BRIGHT WITH $3,597 FOR THE CFGW!

In July we raised funds for the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington. The “Shine Bright” campaign was a great opportunity to help shine a light on the vital work that the CFGW does in our community helping local families with essentials like housing and proper nutrition. With the help of donations and community involvement, the CFGW can invest in children through four programs: Adopt-A-Family, Food & Friends, Free to Grow, and Scholarships to build brighter futures for the children of our community. For the month, 25 cents from every can of Helles Lager sold online and in-store accumulated to make up a donation of $3,597 with the help from our friends at The Wooly Pub!

NOTHING CIVIL IPA RAISES $4,370 FOR THE BLACK HEALTH ALLIANCE!

First released back in the summer of 2020, Nothing Civil IPA is a collaboration with the Lacuna Collective, consisting of poet and beer enthusiast Truth Is ... , beer sommelier Lexi Pham, and Beer.Diversity founder Ren Navarro. Nothing Civil IPA is a call to action, meant to confront white supremacy, racism, and police violence. With 100% of the profits from this beer going to support Black-operated charities, our most recent release of Nothing Civil IPA raised $4,370 for the Black Health Alliance. This donation will help support the incredible work they are doing to create lasting change in the lives of Black children, families and communities.

UPSIDE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT IS A DONATION OF $1,570!

For the month of October, we donated 25 cents from each can of Upside IPA sold online and in-store to the Grand River Conservation Authority to help with the work they do managing water and other natural resources on behalf of 39 municipalities- close to 1,000,000 residents! Thanks GRCA for keeping our waterways on the Upside!

TOGETHER WE RAISED $1,045 FOR MOVEMBER CANADA!

For the second year in a row, we worked with Jeff Morrison to raise funds for Movember Canada and support the important work they do to raise awareness about men's mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. With the return of our Pencil Thin Lite Lager, fifty cents from the sale of each can went to Movember Canada, for a total of $1,045 raised. We want to thank everyone who came out to the beer release party, and all those who purchased the brew for your support!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR CHECK-OUT DONATIONS: $688 FOR THE GUELPH FOOD BANK!
