Kickin’ Back Dry-Hopped Session Ale Now Available Year-Round

May 11, 2016

One of Wellington Brewery's most popular small-batch seasonal beers, Kickin' Back Dry-Hopped Session Ale will now be available year-round as part of the brewery's core brand lineup.

Kickin’ Back is dry-hopped with locally grown Ontario hops from Clear Valley Hops in Nottawa, Ontario. Wellington brewmaster Marvin Dyck worked closely with local hop producers to select unique hop varieties that would contribute floral, citrus, and lemon hop notes to this beer.

“Ontario hops are some of the best in the world, and working with local producers we are able to source fresh hop varieties which contribute the most aroma and flavour” says Wellington brewmaster Marvin Dyck.

As session ales have become increasingly popular over the past few years, our brewers have made this recipe distinct in the session ale category by enhancing the biscuit malt notes to achieve a balanced malt body that enhances the aromatic citrus and floral hop notes. This laid back pale ale is low in alcohol with a well-balanced bitterness making it the perfect beer to enjoy all day long.

Kickin’ Back was first released in spring 2015 as part of the Welly One-Off Series and it quickly became a fan favourite, selling out in record time at the brewery, and taking home a Bronze Medal in the Session Ale category at the 2015 Canadian Brewing Awards

Now in 2016, this award-winning session ale is back to stay. Kickin’ Back will be available year-round in 473 mL tall cans at select LCBO locations and grocery stores starting this week for $2.95 / 473 mL tall can. It will also be available on tap at bars and restaurants across Ontario and at Beer Store locations starting in June.

With a focus on keeping it local, the Kickin’ Back can features an illustration by renowned Guelph-based illustrator Nick Craine. Now you can Kick Back any time and enjoy this dry-hopped pale ale featuring the unique aroma and bright hop flavours of locally grown Ontario hops.
